HEY! I’M KAREN…
For most of my adult life, my world revolved around travel. I spent more than three decades building a successful career in the travel industry, including retail, sales, and cruises, often on the road, hosting groups, commuting into Toronto, and living life at full speed. Today, I live in the small town of Elma, Ontario, just outside Toronto, with my husband, while my two adult kids float in and out as they follow their own paths.
My daughter, Madison, has spent the past few years living abroad in New Zealand and Japan, and my son recently graduated university and is now working full time in Toronto. From the outside, everything looked settled and successful. But behind the movement and momentum, something important was missing, time.
Time to be present. Time to enjoy my hometown. Time to say yes to the hobbies and passions I loved - golf in the summer, pickleball and badminton through the winter, skiing when the snow falls, hiking whenever I can, and following the sunshine whenever life allows. I didn’t want to keep rushing through life anymore. I wanted space, balance, and a future that felt expansive again, not constantly on the clock.
The world feels different when time, travel, and purpose align.
WHEN PASSION MEETS A LIMIT: Travel shaped my career for over three decades, taking me into a wide range of roles and experiences across the industry. I loved the people, the movement, and the energy of it all. But the reality behind the scenes was constant motion.
Early starts, late finishes, endless time on the road, and long commutes into Toronto that left little room for anything else. Over time, the cost became impossible to ignore. The pace was no longer sustainable, and without realising it, I had been running on empty for far longer than I thought.
When redundancy arrived, it wasn’t a setback, it was clarity. I knew I was finished with the exhaustion and ready for a new chapter built on stability, choice, and longevity.
THE MOMENT EVERYTHING PAUSED AND CLARITY ARRIVED: For the first time in years, I stopped. I was home, truly home, and that’s when it hit me. I had been missing out on so much, not just moments with my family, but myself. I wasn’t able to commit to hobbies or plans because my schedule was never reliable.
Life was always lived on someone else’s terms. I hadn’t been looking for a new business when this opportunity crossed my path. It found me. One simple click, one honest look and within days, I knew; the flexibility, the freedom and the ability to control my time again.
